Don Jones (OG, DG) 1958 – 1961. Fifty years ago as a 12 year old 7th grader I began a teenage odyssey in football for Hoss Newman.  Now I am a “man of a certain age”.  After graduation from Georgia Tech I worked in the glass and glazing sector of the commercial construction business and am today in a very similar occupation.  Memphis, Greeneville, SC, Monroe, Jackson, MS, Shreveport, Nashville, TN, Shreveport (again), then Monett, Missouri and finally, in 1988 in the Des Moines, Iowa/Davenport, Iowa, and Omaha, NE.  As a result of being self employed (aka as self unemployed) for most of my life I am looking forward to having a job to go to in the mornings for about 7 to 10 more years.  I have a son, John Darrell, who is my number one employee and partner in our  manufacturer’s representative business.  My daughter, Barbie lives in Shreveport and works for a third party administrator (insurance) firm for a number of years.  My late wife left me as father to 3 more kids, 2 boys and a girl.  I am proud to number them as “my kids” and their children as my grands (eight of those rug rats to this point in time).  I am fantasizing about living in Winnfield sometime fairly soon.
